Susana Dias — bassoon
Susana Dias completed a Master's Degree in Advanced Performance Studies at the Royal College of Music in 2006, studying Bassoon with Andrea de Flammineis and Contrabassoon with Martin Field.
Born in Porto, Portugal, Susana attended the local Music Conservatoire, where she studied with Professor Robert Glassburner. At the same time Susana went also to study a degree in Economics at Porto University.
In February 2003 she was co-winner of the Yamaha Music Foundation Competition for Woodwinds and later, at the RCM, Susana won the Concerto Competition, performing Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in the celebration of Mozart’s 250th birthday at LSO St. Luke’s.
Susana has been working as a freelance orchestral player in professional orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
She was a member of Southbank Sinfonia for their 2008 programme and performs chamber music with The London Myriad Ensemble and The Triple Duo.
